Default Rear brakes

my wife's car was squeeling, it has 27k miles on it or so and I only drive it once a week if that. I heard the noise, figured she was due for front pads.
Ordered the pads and installed them. While I was doing this I noticed the pads looked like they had half life left in them!
Figuring I had everything apart let me just throw these new pads in and forget about it.

The same day I bring the car to the dealer for state inspection, nice that my wife did not notice it was overdue by over a month!
In the dealer notes they tell me "3MM left on rear brake pads"
Thats rather odd I think? Could the back brakes already be worn and they were what was squeeling?

So I log on to the trusty lexus site to see there are not one, but 3 TSBs for the rear brakes- gee thanks local dealership for taking care of that for me!!

Guess I got a phone call to make tomoroww to arrange my new pads- thanks Lexus Board!

Yes, your dealer could have done better. I mentioned some noise from my "front brakes" and the tech told me it was actually probably coming from the rear brakes and advised me of the TSB's. He replaced the rear pads under warranty and I have had no problem since.

I brought my car in for squealing brakes in the front. The dealer replaced the front and rear anti-squeal clips as well as the rear brake pads for free under warranty. I haven't had a squeak since.

Great news- they are changing rear pads under warranty.

Also the tires- 3/32th tread is what im told I have left- dealer tells me the tires are 30k miles tires?! Guess a call into the tire company is in order?

Do you have the TSB number for the rear pads?

What site did you log on in order to get the TSB info? Do you have the TSB numbers for this issue? I am hoping to find the detailed TSB on this. Thank you.

I have the exact same issue. Took it in for 25k service and they said I needed rear brakes (same 3mm left).
I found a TSIB on a pay site (so I can't access it) for rear brakes - BR002-07
I'm calling the dealer to find out what it covers.

Took my car into Lexus and they fixed the rear, replaced the pads and also did the front, never expected the front but the same exact noise could come from the front so they did, Im not gonna complain about free pads

The TSB are in the stickies, just download them, Im not sure if you can just open them
