I've been putting up with a small amount of background noise (engine noise, high-pitch squeal from the iPod HD firing up) when I have my iPod plugged in to the aux audio input and power source in the console. The manual says to expect the noise so I thought there wasn't much I could do.
Today I took the car in for it's 5K oil change and service. I mentioned the problem and when I picked up my car it was completely fixed. The audio has absolutely no interference noise, it sounds clear and great. The service manager said there was a technical bulletin for this, and they replaced some wiring and put in a new different filter.
If you have this problem get the free fix next time you take your car in. The difference is amazing, and it doesn't affect the audio in any negative way.

I complained about noise with FM stations figuring maybe others had too, and to my suprise they replaced the antennea wire ( I think ) and I think a ground strap or something like that.
So yes- if you have some radio noise speak up and get it fixed!
