for comparison, my 06 IS350 gets on average 26 mpg highways after several out of town trips now.

Default Gas Mileage pretty good!

For the last 8 years, for our Christmas vacation we drive to Orlando from Houston and spend 7-10 days there and drive back, and wow, was I impressed with the gas mileage I was getting from my Lexus. I have driven and Pacifica, Expedition, Excursion and a 300, but my Lexus was the best. I averaged about 75-85 mph on cruise control and got about 395 Miles to the tank full. Gas prices were not too bad either, max. for premium was about $1.89.

Great car, Great gas mileage!

Are you supposed to put premium in the ES350? I'm asking because I have a loaner ES for a few days.

You'll be OK putting regular unleaded (87 octane) in the ES.

There's been a lot of discussion on this topic here.

epa tests are done in optimal conditions on test tracks, not on local freeways.

Hmmm...I just got back from Florida, 3500 miles total. Averaging 26.7 but got as much as 31 mpg on the "ave. by Tankfull" display. Not bad actually.

2007 ES350...

Not to make anyone mad, but in a recent trip near Roswell New Mexico I got 38.2 mpg on the first 100 miles or so of that trip. Average speed due to the road conditions was just under 60 mph. After the first 100 miles I was back to in-town driving with some interstate time, but it does show what is possible.

As a rule my in-town mpg is 24+ with interstate speed highway mpg of 32-33. This on mid-grade fuel.

Sorry the picture isn't real clear, but it isn't easy taking a picture and driving at the same time...

Just had a 07 ES350 loaner this past weekend. I got 32.8 mpg in a 55 miles drive, average speed just under 70 mph. To me, this is very impressive for a v6, my GS350 only average 26 mpg on my best run.
