Default Driving lights/parking lights

Just a question here maybe someone has looked into. When you turn on your parking lights (1st click on the stalk) it does not turn on your driving lights. I leave the driving light switch position on but the driving lights don't go on until the 2nd click of the stalk. So I am wondering if anyone has done any modifications to have the driving lights come on whe you turn on the parking lights. If so what have you done. Thanks

Can you be more specific about what lights are what? I'm not too familiar with the terms you used. I assume by driving lights you mean the main head lights. But what are the parking lights?
Also, AFAIK, the lights that come on in the 2nd position (headlights) are in addition to whatever came on in the first position. I.e. nothing swiches off when going from 1st to 2nd.
BTW, why don't you use the auto mode, third position?

I think the driving / fog lights are set up to only come on with the headlights and only when they are on the low beam. I believe if you check you will see that they go off when the high beams are selected. And I don't know of any way that this can be changed. I don't think they would be effective with the high beams anyway. Do you still have your DRL's turned on when you have the parking lights on?

I think that would defeat the purpose of "parking" lights. If you mean you want all of your lights to turn on at the same time. Is it that big of a deal to turn an extra click to get headlights to turn on? I actually leave it at the automatic position all the time, so the headlights just turn on by themselves.

I was just curious to know if anyone has done this. I was looking for the ability to turn on the driving lights without needing to turn on the headlights. I use this approach with my other cars when it gets to be dusk out and it isn't necessary to turn on the headlights. I'll just search for a schmetic and see how it is wired . hould be a relay that is triggered by the 3rd position on the stalk. I would think it would be a matter of running a wire from the parking light switch to the driving light relay. One of these days I trace it out. As I mentioned I just wanted to see if someone else did this before I jump in. Thanks

wait wait.. what are the driving lights then... could you explain what those are.. because the only lights that i know of are the daytime running lights, the parking lights, the headlights (to me driving lights), and the fog lights... so maybe that would help if you would define what the "driving" lights are.

That's also my understanding of the lighting setup.

I think what he means is turn on the parking lights(1st click) with the fogs rather than the headlights...don't think it's possible without modifications
