Need new tires (at 30K)
So anyone notice the difference buying BF Goodrich or "factory" Michelin's?
Is it worth the extra 3-400 dollars to buy the Michelins? Is the ride that much better?

Based on Reports I have read, and the results from Tire Rack here:

I will be buying the Michelin Primacy MXV4 when it's time to retire my wife's ES. The stock Michelin tire used by Lexus on the ES, is rated 13 out of 19 tires in the All Season Grand Touring at the Tire Category. This is a rating compiled from actual user experiences.

Based on the reviews and experience with them on my Infiniti, I will replace my tires when the time comes with Bridgestone Turanza Serenity tires. They are not as good as the Michelin in the snow, but we don't get much of that here in Tucson so I'll go for the quieter, smoother ride.

I'm not sure which tires I'll get next, but I won't be buying these again.

I'm not sure what tires people are choosing ... OEM stock size is 215/55/17 tires. Based upon Tirerack selections, I can only see:
OEM - Michelin Energy MXV4 S8 ($177 each)
Michelin Primacy MXV4 ($139 each)
I might change over to a Nokian 'all-season' tire. Had great experience with those for my Acura.
Nokian WR G2 tire (215/55/17) ... ? price but superior to the Michelin in snowy conditions ... (almost guaranteed louder based upon the tire tread design).
Well ... back to researching tires ...

I installed the Kumho Solus KH16 tires ($75 at Tire Rack) about 6,000 miles ago. Our ES350 still has the nice ride and the tire treads look like new. I had poor experiences with the OEM Michelins, having gone through two sets in 21,000 miles (the first ones were replaced by Michelin at a large discounted rate). For the money, even if they wear out in 15,000 miles, the cost per mile is very good. I really think we will get 20,000+ miles from these in 90% city / suburb driving.

Give some serious consideration to the Goodyear Assurance Triple Treds H speed rated....and I would stick with the OE 215 55 17 size personally. More info here...
