Tire Recommendation
A few weeks ago I replaced the OEM tires on my ES with new Michelin Primacy MXV4's. If you're looking for a smooth, quiet tire, this is it. They handle very well, and they're as quiet and smooth as any tire I've ever had. They have a 60,000 mile warranty, and should last quite a bit longer than the MXV4 Energy tires that came with the car. I got them for a little under $700 out the door.

They're H rated tires. Which means they have a top speed rating of around 140 mph. I rarely go that fast! Because of the H rating the treadlife will be longer than the V rated MXV Energy tires that came with the car. I don't understand why this car needs a V rated tire.

You rarely go that fast I have never gone that fast, been over 130, but have never reached 140.
BTW, the ES is electronically limited to 137 MPH. The "H" speed rating means it is safe for speeds to 130 MPH. Lexus must sell the vehicle with a tire that matches it's max speed, hence the "V" rating on the OEM tire.
With all that being said, the "V" rated tire will run cooler than the "H" rated tire. The Michelin Primacy MXV4 constantly gets top marks from folks who own it.
