Thank you all for your valuable opinion, especially LexPaul and MD350.

I was second guessing myself of whether I should buy the vehicle sight unseen, especially the used one, but since it's a CPO from Lexus, I thought it was safe to do it. But after MD350's comments, I will definitely skip this one and looking for a vehicle closer to home where I can see it in person. MD350, why are you saying one should not buy a vehicle sight unseen even it's brand new? Isn't that safe to do it and a lot of people have done it already? What's there to lose if you can get a great value out of state (usually costal states have much better deals than middle America)? Maybe you know something we don't?

Anyway, I will continue my search for a CPO Ultra with white exterior (last I searched, they had one, about 780 miles away, darn!). Or I can wait until the 2010 ES comes out, then hopefully they will greatly discounted the current ES, and I might just get it brand new. We'll see.

With a brand new car, the chances of issues are much less. However, scratches, lot damage, swapped out tires and/or wheels are some issues I have seen. There are new cars that need tires rebalanced, and other minor factory defects that can be spotted during a test drive. If a dealer has more than 1 of the same make/model/color/equipment...you can pick another one.

My wife bought a 2007 Honda Pilot and the Honda dealer required us to test drive the exact one we bought before we signed the papers. Low and behold, this was a question on the follow up survey we received a few weeks later..."did you test drive the vehicle you purchased?"

If you do buy out of state, I do suggest the one way plane ticket and drive it back. This way, you are able to inspect it and save the shipping cost.

Good luck.
