Default New tires & TPMS

I'm getting new tires installed, and would like to know if there are any special procedures required (e.g., installing new sensors) because of the tire pressure monitoring system. I'm using the stock rims, and don't believe that the TPMS sensors or valve stems have to be replaced. My ES350 is my first car with TPMS, and I want to be prepared before I go to the tire installer.

Should be nothing special - they will just reuse your TPMS sensors. Probably will charge you $5 per wheel for a "rebuild" which is just a new gasket or seal I believe. Just be sure they know that you have sensors and what they need to do so they don't damage them. Very expensive if they do. Most shops can handle this without a problem.

Just remember to reset the TPMS with the underdash switch once the new tires are filled with air and remounted on the car.

What if I am replacing the rims, but keeping the tires? Will the same procedures work?

Yes, just move the TPMS valve assembly to the new rims - assuming it will fit which it should. And do the same reset procedure after the new install.

I didn't think there were any special procedures, but I just wanted to make sure. Thanks for the help.
