Calling canadian member: Q on extended warranties and replacement warranty
Well, after buying an used ES350 2008, it's time to look at costly warranties. Since i want to keep the car for a long time, i should get it protected.
Q:
1. Should i go with the dealer extended warranty, which is 2560$can until 2015 or looking for an independant insurer. Please give me some name because i have to clue to where to start.
2. replacement warranty, same question. Do i have the option of getting a check to buy something else than Lexus ?
thank you in advance.

Per earlier respones, utilize the Lexus Platinum warranty as it will be easier to get the car worked on if / when it needs repair. You can do an online search for the Lexus Platinum warranty and get a much better deal from other dealers. Got my quote from a Louisiana dealer, printed the quote and took it to my local dealer and said match it or this guy gets the business. You do that after your dealer quotes you. If they won't match, then you buy it from that dealer. $1,200 US $ for mine versus $1,800 quote from my local dealer - he matched it.

For the warranty to be worth it, this is the position:
LEXUS WINS IF: Your car requires less than $2650 in repairs in 6 years.
YOU WIN IF: Your car requires more than $2650 in repairs in 6 years (the fact that your car requires that much in repairs isn't really a "win", but...)
90% of the time Lexus wins. The odds are stacked AGAINST you with an extended warranty, especially on a Japanese, built in Japan vehicle.
Having grown up in a "Toyota" family, I can say that none of our Toyota vehicles have required any significant repairs in the first 6 years (and then some). I bought an ES350 expecting the same level of reliability that I don't feel the need to back with an extended warranty.
YMMV based on your risk tolerance, but you'd have to be rather risk averse, or the warranty long and cheap enough for you to take the bite. garsarno's $1200 is a far cry from your $2650. There's no value at that high price at all.

After shopping around for a little bit and thinking of the question to get the extended warranty (as all of my friend's cars never had one), your inputs are making a lot of sense. I usually put around 2000$can for repair on my last car and most of it is insured.
Too bad that garsarno's deal do not apply in Canada because i would take it in an heart beat. I think for now, i will put in on hold.
