Rain Sensiing Wipers Are a Joke

I think Miniz made the best point, that it is a really well made car generally, and on this forum there aren't many major complaints, to disprove that claim.

Fine misting rain tonight in Connecticut. Not enough for the low speed of the wipers to respond. But the glass needed a swipe every 4 or 5 seconds. The Lexus wipers are a joke. They would wait for a full 30 seconds or longer for a swipe or two then stop again. They don't sense a fine droplet covered windshield so I have to do a single swipe or go to slow constant speed. What a disappointment on such an otherwise great car. A third intermittent speed would have been better with less fiddling. I am not alone on this, there have been other threads........
I understand and agree 100% with everything you have said about the wipers. I have exactly the same complaint. Find myself constantly playing with the adjustment or having to turn them on and off. The wipers on my Acura TL worked perfectly under all sensing conditions...just another thing regarding simple technology that Lexus needs to catch up on.

I'm with you, CJS57 (and RichardNJ). The wipers aren't sensitive enough even at the end of the sensitivity adjustment.
I'd gladly trade my rain-sensing wipers for good ol' intermittent wipers.
I've the same problem with the rear mirror not dimming enough at night. I put up the rear window shade to help out with especially bright drivers behind me.
Still a great car though.

CJ's complaint is legitimate. He bought a luxury car where a higher level of standard is expected. Remember the old adage: "You get what you pay for"? Well it works both ways. If you pay more you should expect more.

I'm always wondering if ES using a low quality rain sensor or logic etc.

When they automatically go into high speed mode, I have to turn them off to get them to slow down. Seems like they are going to fly right off the car.
They need some tweaking.
