Default Mechanical Key Only

Folks,

I still need just a mechanical door key for my 2007 ES-350 and short of buying an entire SmartKey and removing the L-Key, I'm looking for a solution....

Would this key fully work in the 2007 ES-350 door-lock?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Where could i get it cut? My dealer says they will only cut the L-shaped keys as part of a full SmartKey purchase. My local Locksmith is completely clueless and tried cutting a blank that was "supposed to be correct" but it didn't work.

Any ideas? Many thanks.

I don't really know the answer to this but would try another dealer before giving up on this. Surely the L-Key is not available only with a smart key purchase.

Why do you only need the L-Key? If yours was lost I would just use the smart key with the non-working L-Key and take a slight chance on never needing it anyway before I would shell out the money for a new smart key.

Contact www.toy-lex.com or Sewell Lexus in Dallas Texas. Both can cut a non-remote key from your vin for about $50. Then you would have to add overnight shipping if you are in a hurry.

Just found out the toy-lex.com is out of business, try http://sparecarkeys.com/catalog/index.php , I have used them before for my RX330 and they have been really good.

Will these people cut a key for you if you already have a blank?

Thanks.

MonAndrew7:

Here is another option.

I had to deal with the same issue....did not want to pay $350 for a spare keyfob. Bought a keyfob from Ebay with an uncut metal key. It took a while but I found a company that would cut the metal key for me. Here is the link to the company:
http://www.autotransponder.com/2007_...ry_remotes.php

In order for autotransponder to cut your key, they will need your keycode. Just call your Lexus service department, once they verify who you are, give them your vin number and they will give you key code.

Then I had my Lexus service department here program my extra keyfob for $45....it took them a couple of tries but I got a third spare keyfob for about $140 total.
