2010 ES350 Tire Pressure @39psi from dealer
Hello Everyone
This is my first thread and post on club lexus, and wanted to ask a question on tire pressure. My mother just bought a 2010 ES350 and sold me her 2002 ES300 and I love it . She loves her new lexus but was complaining that it drove very harsh , so I checked the tire pressure and sure enough it had 39psi. Are my gauges not accurate? I have 5 gauges that read the same. Have any of you had this problem? Should I put the recommended 30psi in the tires ...
Thanks

Welcome to CL. Your tire pressure...er over pressure...is a common issue. The dealer should have corrected this as part of their delivery check. You definitely need to lower it to 32, which I like, or 34 which many here seem to prefer. You will need to reset the TPSM after doing this. Instructions for this are posted here or in the manual ofcourse.

That's some serious hardcore maintenance you do to your car. With three young kids and a wife I'm lucky to even notice a tire is low. However, I understand your reasoning for varying the tire pressure depending on the climate. I may even start doing that.

MP, 39 Lbs. is too much. The Lexus factory recommends 30 lbs for normal driving or 32 lbs for extended highway driving. This is posted on the drivers door jamb. My 2010 came with 35 lbs. all around except one tire had 37lbs. There was an unsafe 60 lbs in my full size spare. Idiot dealer prep person must have thought it was a small doughnut tire. 45lbs is the max safe pressure.

Lead Lap
39 is way too high. The overall ride quality quickly diminishes over 35. You will feel every road imperfection/bump/ect. Bring it down to 32-34 and it will ride great.

Tire Pressure in ES350
I mentioned this same issue previously when i bought my 2007 ES back in October. Harsh ride over even the smallest of bumps etc. Checked pressure and 36.5 to 37......
I lowered to 30 but the warning can on. Dealer said that's why they pump up to 36-37.
Then why would Lexus recommend 30. (not much of a response).
So i increased to 32......same issue, then got tired of fooling with it and back to 36-37.
I'd like to run 32 for smoother ride. Realize higher pressure mpg might improve but other posters noted tire wear in center of tire (which is what i've always been told happens in overinflated tires).
Can we reset the warning light to say 26 for example so if i set at 32 it comes on when it hits 31 or whatever? Obviously can't run recommended due to factory setting at 30...

My car drove beautifully smooth since I got it end of Dec, and I was wondering why since I got it back a week ago from the 1000 mile service it seems a bit harder...then found this thread! Checked tire pressure and they are all at 40. Guess they filled them up!
I'm a bit confused though. If I let out the air to about 34 and the TPMS goes off, will pressing this reset button you all mention just stop the warning light from going off? Is there a way to set the warning level to something different?

Hint, there is a link in said post that will take you to a thread that contains instructions on how to do just that.
