2007 Used Prices
#16
Oh boy, the guy at Carmax was not pulling my chain. They just dropped the price on the other ES by $1,000 and put it on their feature of the week list. This is my car exactly, I just have 2,000 more miles.

The example I gave is most concrete: '07 ES 350 UL with 70K miles, and asking price is $22K. No one even touches it yet. This is from a dealership...so for you to sell private, expect less (IMHO).

Given the current economic situation and the recalls and negative publicity are not making for a seller's market. Times change and sometimes they change quick. I wish I had waited 4 months as I bought my ES 350 in November. Oh well. I plan on keeping the car for forever. I love driving it. I kept my last car for 11.5 years.

I just checked the ES350 pre-owned inventory at the dealership where I bought my 2010. It's a fairly large suburban dealership. They show 19 cars, 16 are CPO and 9 or 10 of the inventory are '07's. I didn't think there would be that many, but there are a lot of pre-owned ES's out there.
Like MD350, I bought my '07 in early May '06 when they were new and hot and discounts were hard to come buy.

those are all 07 off-leases. Almost every 07 ES 350 I looked at in the last month or so were off-leases. At first I was concerned to buy off-lease car, but then I just couldn't find any that were not. I guess people who buy them intend to keep them for a while. Finally I realized that while there are off-leases that dealerships get rid of via auctions, and there are off-leases that they certify and sell themselves, so I went after the latter...

I'm curious MD350, why do you think $24K - $25K for your vehicle is not a good sell? With or without the Toyota recall...I think that amount for a used 2007 ES (purchased at $41K) is a good sell. I recently sold my '07 RX400h at $28.7K (bought at $47.5K), and it was only at 45K miles. It's tough out there for seller these days. Don't expect too much as there are way more vehicles than buyers.

The market is saturated with off lease '07 ES350 cars. Was a popular vehicle in mid to late 2006 for the three year Lexus lease. In 2008, the market was saturated with problematic '07 ES350s with replacement transmissions.
