I agree. I think she probably didn't secure the mat, it somehow got on top of the pedal. She was confused, panicked, and failed to do the things that she claims she did. Brakes would overpower the accelerator in this car. Neutral would stop the transmission. What she describes cannot happen.

So, the car is out of control and she made a call on bluetooth? I gotta say, that would be the last thing I would be doing.

I feel there are a lot of "user error" issues that are coming out of the woodwork. What a PR nightmare.

I tend to agree about the user error and add in some hysteria.

The bluetooth call from an out of control car that's headed for 100 mph does sound a bit unusual.

Plus the fact that standing on the brakes, applying the parking brake, putting the car into neutral, then into reverse didn't do anything.

Not only do I not believe she made a call but I don't believe she shifted the car and possibly this never happened at all. She's wanting to join a future class action lawsuit and is looking for her 15 minutes of fame. Why? Because she said this went on for 6 miles. I don't believe she is capable enough of a driver to drive that far that fast shifting and making phone calls.

Another possibility is that her car is possessed and someone with a voodoo doll is out to get her.

Can anyone confirm that there is no lockout on neutral at 60mph? I don't believe there is, but quite a few people on the internets swear that there is a lockout.

I can confirm there is no lockout. I tested it last Saturday while explaining to my passenger that this whole thing is BS.
