changing you cabin air filter can make a big diffence in the indoor air quality of your vehicle. Last time I went to the dealer to get my $15 oil change they asked me If I wanted my cabin air filter changed. I said 'How much?' he told me $120 plus labor. I said I'll think about it. The filters are only $20 bucks and go behind the golve box . easy DIY. saved me close to $200 bucks. They do make a big diffence though, I noticed the diffence right away. when looking for the filters I found a funny article about them.

Manual just says "pull it out". But in my recollection, there is a plastic tab that you have to push to easily remove the cover.
You can pull and yank it out (I did the first time), but there is a chance that the plastic latch would break off.
No brute force, it is really a piece of cake procedue.
Not sure if HEPA sheet filter would do it.
What is in there is just a pleated filter like the one in the heater furnace.
Cost me about three bucks on Ebay.
BTW, replacing the engine air filter is very easy too.
Would it be possible to make your own filter out of a furnace filter, I believe they are pleated. It may work better then HEPA sheet filters but then again i'm not sure and I don't want to do something without knowing exactly.

I remember having the cabin air filter changed on my dad's '98 Park Avenue in 2004. WOW. The stuff that was in there (from never having been changed - ever!). I never saw such debris and dirt that came out. The ES350 one is so simple to change.
