Default New nav makes me lazy

This new nav system with the 1 year SOS/On call feature is making me lazy. I don't bother to plug in my destinations anymore. I just call up the operator as I leave my house and tell them where I want to go. The then just down load the directions to the nav and I'm set. I can see that this 1 year free feature is going to get you hooked. I think the same with the XF weather and traffic feature only that is good for 90 days. Also the system is more user friendly regarding understanding voice commands. Compared to my 2008 this is a completly new and better system. You got to try it to see how it works. I assume that GM and others may have a similar system but this works for me.

I am glad to hear of the improved nav system....especially the voice commands. Is you new nav system version 9.1?

I don't know but from my point of view there is a night and day difference between the 2010 and the 2008.

I just tried the e-destination feature on the Lexus Drivers site. Pretty good. I plugged in a local golf course and set it up for sync to the nav system. I assume next time I get in the car it will down load it along with my golf folder. OK feature so I can do trip destinations at night on my laptop and que them up the next day or week when I want to take the trip. I'll just continue to play with the features and see what else I can do.

A week after we got our car we took a driving vacation. Before we left I set up our motels and a few attractions in a Vacation folder on e- destination and then downloaded everything to the car before we left. It was slick. I'm still not 100% sure if I'll renew the subscription, but still have a few months on the initial 12 month complimentary program.

Yeah , that's how you get sucked into buying this feature. If I would have known about it I would have tried to negotiate it in for at least 5 years. Same with the XM feature. Hey , live and learn.
