This is my 1st Lexus.

Most cars will ding-ding sound if the headlights are on if you open the drivers door.

If I choose not to use the auto on/off feature should there be some type of warning/notification if I were to have the headlights in the on position upon turning off the engine and leaving the car??

I believe that because the headlights have the automatic turn off feature there is no warning since they go off in 30 seconds anyway. If you want to keep the headlights on with the car off for some reason you have to manually turn them back on after the 30 second turn off.

The factory setting is for the headlights to remain on for 30 seconds. The options are 60, 30 or 0. I like zero because I don't need it or want them drawing on the battery. That is a setting the dealer has to do for you.

What really prompted my to go to the dealer to have it changed was one night after shutting the car down I got something out of the trunk. Somehow I did not close it all the way. A while later I walk by the front door to see my headlights still on. They cut off after I noticed the light peaking out from the trunk and closed it.
