Default 2010 Lexus ES350 vs 2011 Hyundai Sonata

Has anyone compared the 2010 Lexus ES350 vs 2011 Hyundai Sonata, I test drove a 2011 Hyandai Sonata, they are just awesome, including the look and ride.

Was it as quiet as the ES 350?

When I was looking for a car I thought about a Sonata but I just couldn't bring myself to even test drive one. Hyudai had a reputation about a step above Yugo. I understand that things have changed but they have a lot to overcome.

just commenting is an insult to Lexus but here goes. funny how they all want to compare to Lexus--Hyundai, Buick, etc. This HyundaiSonata is not what they call luxury class....it compared to Accord, Camry, etc and will remain there. I'm sure its nice car for some just as millions who love their Camry's, Accords fine built cars for the price. Sorry again imo you can go into resale value and all sorts; but bottomline a 25k veh vs 40 k veh are 2 different vehs but doesnt mean people wouldnt rather purchase less expensive .....dress shirts @ Macy's for $ 60.00....dress shirts @ Sears for $ 20.00 . Lexus/ Toyota has alot going on right now and worrying about Sonata is not one of them imo.....maybe the Genesis, whos still trying to get in Luxury Identified Class. great thing about this Country we have choices....good luck with any veh you may purchase in near future .

There are A LOT of reasons these two cars (as well others in different segments) aren't widely cross-shopped. Too numerous to get into.

Both are good cars, just diffferent from each other.

Are they trying to emulate BMW styling with that rear and shark-fin antenna?
But from the side - that sharp crease is ugly!

Hyundai has come a long way, no question about it.
but I don't think they've reached the point where a $20K car is the equal of this $40K car.

I put my kids in SantaFes. We have an '05 and an '06. We love them both, i don't think they came close to a GX.

The Sonata is a great looking car but only has a 4cyl, a turbo is due by year end. I think you will also find a huge difference in the ride of the 2 cars.

Even i love Lexus, Hyundai has made HUGE leaps on innovation (for certain, copycat). It is not a Lexus and it doesn't claim to compare to Lexus contrary to Buick, but Lexus can learn a thing or two about the sonata design. I love the L finesse lining on the ES but put some new ideas on that car and it's an absolute winner, bar none.

The Sonata is a fine automobile. It competes favorably in its class. I, myself, wouldn't mind owning one. It's just not in the same class as the ES.

Have to agree with LexBob, I think he said it all...The Sonata and Lexus don't share the same buyer market....I would rate the Sonata with a fully-loaded Camry SE...IMHO...

Just this thread shows just how far Hyundai has come in the past few years. Imo the Sonata exterior is looks better than any car in Toyota line up. Even some of the cars in the Lexus line up. Hyundai did a great job.

No V6 for Sonata and no plans to put one in - that's a deal breaker for me even if I wasn't a Lexus fanatic.

Blah blah direct injected.... I know the engine is decent. It'll never be as smooth as a V6 or V8 though.

The Sonata is a very nice car and Hyundai is not anything like it used to be when they were first in the US. This car clearly isn't in the same class as an ES350.

The only way I can see these two cars being compared EVER is if it was between a new Sonata and a used ES350.

Sonata really shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath with the ES350 IMHO.

On the other hand, the Genesis can and does compete with it. They've got a new one in pre production that should be out in the next year, the Equus that will be competing with the LS460 and S-Class Mercedes in the future.

Check this out http://www.insideline.com/hyundai/eq...irst-ride.html

^^ Gosh that not Hyundai even changed their logo for their Equus. Equus looks very nice like Lexus LS460.
