Default Possible to set 2007 Lexus ES350 Nav to shorter time (not shorter distance) ???

On my maiden voyage with my 2007 Lexus, I used the Nav system to return home from Bromont to Ile Perrot in Quebec Canada. SHOWSTOPPER! It kept wanting me to exit off the main highway for smaller high traffic routes with traffic lights etc. The correct option (which I know) was to stay on the main highway 30 which is more than 50% faster in time. It appears that the Nav system always insists on shorter distance but much longer in time. If this is the case, this $8,000 system is dysfunctional for me and I will continue to use my Garmin which is like a genius compared to the idiot Lexus Nav system.

BOTTOM LINE (HELP!!!)
CAN THIS NAV SYSTEM BE CONFIGURED FOR SHORTEST TIME ? IF NOT THEN IT'S USELESS AND JUST A NOVELTY TO HAVE GPS ON THE LEXUS MONITOR TO IMPRESS YOUR FRIENDS; MY GARMIN HAS THIS NECESSARY OPTION FOR FASTEST TIME

Check the settings menu. It is probably set for most direct route or to avoid certain types of roads.
Should be an easy fix.😁

Default 2007 Lexus: Updated with 2016 Naviagion DVD

The DVD was from 2007 making it unusable so I got the DVD in EBay for $35 and installed it
I will try the settings. Thanks to all for the feedback
