what's the fastest you've had your ES up to?
I had mine up to 105 the other day and 100 today. Felt like I was doing 45.

Man that's really fast..I deliberately limit my speed to about 80, I think once I was near 87, but then I quickly slowed down to under 80. My normal freeway speed is between 75-80. How was the ride at 105?? Still smooth? Didn't seem like you were going that fast?

when i was full stock, 140 felt scary comfy on the fwy.. =X... the car is really easy to go high speeds in cause you dont feel how fast you're going... felt like 80...
the only difference was that everything was flying by... and the steering wheel felt really light and sketchy.... only topped out for a brief moment, it's pretty scary how fast cars can go these days, and how comfortable they feel going that fast.

The car was driving so nice at 100 that I really didn’t even notice. My car before sounded like it was going to blow up at 80. I didn’t maintain that speed for an extended period of time so I can’t comment on the steering feel. I was too busy concentrating on the road and only looked down at the speedometer once I backed off the accelerator pedal. So I may have been going up to 107 even. But one thing is for sure, the car will coast for a long time down from 100 MPH.
Cars nowadays have way too much power. 270 HP is insane. But those ponies really get a heavy car like the ES moving.

I hope you brought protection (a.k.a V1 radar/laser) along for the ride, otherwise you are just asking for a giant fine. Your local friendly government would be glad to give you a nice hefty $200-300 ticket. They need the money.

In a recent C&D magazine comparo the ES350 was the lightest car of the bunch (LaCrosse, Genesis, Taurus).

In CA you would be correct. Other areas not so much, as long as this happened on a highway with a posted speed of 75 you would be looking at a fine at 100. They would reduce the overage to 20 MPH over and just fine you. 105 would be too much. If this was on US1 in a 50MPH zone, then yes you would go to jail without any question in any state.

Nope, no radar detector. Just plain dumb luck. I probably won't do that again but it sure was fun. Also it is nice to know how my car handles at extreme speeds should going that fast ever be necessary. Or I'm on the Autobahn.

Have had ours over 90 mph on OH turnpike with Valentine detector on.
I remember when I first got my '07 Impala SS and was driving down to Harrisburg, PA on Interstate 81 south. There was a car and a truck in the passing lane going mid 50s in a 65 mph zone. I followed for awhile, then I got in the right lane, floored the car and passed both of them like they were standing still. I looked down at the speedometer and I was going over 110 mph. I slowed down to 75 mph and have kept a keen eye on how fast I overtake / pass cars from then on.

Montana, Wyoming, Utah - there are many lonely stretches of interstate highways posted at 75 mph out there.
With no populated exits 50 miles in both directions you have the road all to yourself on I-15 or I-70.
You still can get busted by some bored trooper, so have your detector on and watch for suspicious cars on the horizon. They like to use VASCAR or pace you in rural places like that, don't rely on detector alone.

Well, if you had a time-travel machine and could transport to the late 1990s, Montana had no daytime speed limit for a period of time:

In Minneapolis, 75-85 is a day to day thing on the I-494 Raceway. Sometimes you have to nudge it past 100 to get past the slow pokes.
One thing people forget is that just because your car can go 140 does not mean your tires will go 140. The stock ES's have R rated tires, which is rated for a max of 106mph. Even at a sustained 106, I would not trust an R rated tire.
Unless you have swapped out the tires for a higher speed rating, don't take chances. A blowout at 100+mph will kill you and everyone in your car.
