When new DVD Map Updates release
I understand that the DVD Map updates usually come out in October. Is there anyway to find out what day they come out, what updates they are going to cover etc. My dealer has agreed to update my DVD when they come out. I currently have 6.1 in a used 2007 ES350 I just purchased. Thanks in advance, Don

The most useful updates are the Points of Interest which are updated on the new NAV DVD. I've found the roads themselves are not updated very frequently. Get the free update but don't worry about ever paying for the update, I personally don't feel there's enough value in the updates if it's only two or three years newer.
I had an '06 IS350 with nav and now I've had my '07 ES350 with nav for almost four years, I just updated to version 9.1 and aside from the POI's and their respective phone numbers being updated I've found the streets are still not up to date - even for streets that have been in place since 2007.

Lexus Test Driver
I got an email a few days ago from Sewell advertising the new update.
Says its shipping Sept 13th:

As far as what is actually updated - you can't blame Lexus. There are only like 2 or 3 companies that gather the data and provide it to all the GPS companies.
Unless you have money to spend, it's a waste to buy the update every year.
