different wood color on my es350 steering wheel and shift ****
I noticed that my 2010 es350 has same wood color on the (steering wheel and shift ****) and the rest of the wood interior is another color...does anybody notice the difference or is this normal? thanks

Mine is like that too, steering wheel is different tone. It is not supposed to be that way. Buy real wood is a natural and variable substance and there will be variations. Question is how much and does it really jump out at you? I just forgot about mine, doesn't bother me at all a year later.

My '07 shift **** was slightly off color to the steering wheel wood. Noticed that when new but after four years, either my eyes are going or the wood aged to match better.

I have the same issue with my 2010. It's a little more than slightly different. It's a different color. Not enough to really be noticed by a passenger or casual observer. I thought about asking the dealer about it. It'd probably not worth asking.

Just curious what color interior/exterior do you have?. I have silver/black. I wonder if its an issue of some of them being incorrect or all of them being the wrong color. I will ask when I go to by dealer for service; just to see if they will laugh or not.

I didn't notice it on my 2010--just got mine a about a month ago--I'll have to take a look tomorrow. However, if it didn't stick out to me when buying the car, it probably won't bother me too much I guess...

My 2010 ES350 has a steering wheel that does not match the rest of the interior wood. I have asked the service dept. to fix the problem. It is unacceptable for a car manufacturer with a reputation like Lexus has to allow this to happen and not fix it. I did not have this problem with my previous Lexus vehicles.

I called the service dept. about it. They said they had never heard of the issue and that I should contact my salesperson since the car is less then a month old. I figured they would tell me that over the phone. I will have to go there in person to see what they will say. It is unacceptable. Does anyone have a 2010 with matching steering wheel wood color? I could see how the average person may not notice or overlooked it. It would be helpful to see if they are all like that or are we just a few lucky owners of mis-matched wood.

The dashboard and door wood is thin veneer. The steering wheel is thick solid wood. The veneer is very figured with burl and birdseye. The steering wheels are less figured and burly.
So when the wood is stained it will never match perfectly because of the different grains. They will only come more or less close to each other. If Lexus used very expensive and figured wood on the steering wheel to, it would match closer to the other panels in the car. I think that Lexus is going with it this way to save money. The burl steering wood could add $20 to $50 per car.
