Lexus Recommended Services
I got the 1,000 and 5,000 mile services free. They told me the 10,000 service would be $125 approx and the 15,000 mile service $360 approx. Do you have to do the recommended services ? If you don't can they/will they void your warranty? I am curious what people here have done. I don't want to be taken advantage of. Thanks Dorothy

The only thing that you SHOULD do is an oil change every 5,000 miles. If you read the owners manual they will tell you what is done during the 15K and 20K service and if you look at it there is not much other then check this or check that. So unless I have a problem I will do the oil changes and check the items on the list. I guess it is up to you but just use common sense.

You do have to keep up with service, such as as oil/filter change to keep the warranty active, but you are not required to do them at the dealer. In fact, it is illegal for a dealer to require you to use their services to maintain manufacturer coverage. For example, if you don't do any oil chances and your engine sludge's up, then your warranty will be void. Maintain your car to what the book says and keep all the records, just don't waste money bringing it to the dealer.
