Default Tranmission & Alignment

Hi! I live in Southern Cali and drive an 07 ES 350. I wanted to get my transmission flushed and alignment done at Pep Boys last weekend but they said they didn't have the 'machine' to do it for this car and I'd have to go to the dealer...what???? Is this true? They tried to align my car and they said that they couldn't bypass the lexus sensors. I'm going to a Firestone and/or Discounttires this weekend. Has anyone gotten these services done from a non-lexus dealer? I know the 07 has a sealed transmission but my car already has 55k+ miles on it. I think it should be flushed already...Thank you!!! I'm learning more about cars everyday...thanks to my lexus...

Yes, the transmission is "sealed" and very sensitive to proper refill procedures. I don't think I would even worry about the refill at 55K miles but if you want to have it done a Lexus dealer might be your best bet - at a price. I would think that a good transmission shop might be able to do it as well but I would stay away from Pep Boys, tire shops and quick lubes on this service.

I think your first problem is that you're choosing Pepboys. Personally I never hear good things about those places.

Any reason you don't want to take it to the dealer?

The transmission is a super expensive component of the car - I'd cough up the dough to have it done right with the proper equipment (dealer).

Amen to not having Pep Boys mess with the ES350 although they probably service Camry models.
