We have 2007 ES 350. When the headlights are set to auto, one of the headlights comes on, but goes off. Dealer said it was the headlight, but I'm wondering if other owners have had this problem. Could it be a faulty sensor? How can I check the sensor? Does it make sense that these lights when going bad can come on but go off? Doesn't sound light a light failure since the light doesn't burn out completely? where is the light sensor, and can I check it. How does a dealer check to see if a light is burning out or some other problem. With the cost of the headlight at about $250, i want to be sure a new bulb with correct the problem. thanks for any comments you can share.

Sounds like the bulb is going bad. What I would do is tell the dealer to replace it and if the problem exists then you will not pay for the bulb and installation. Make them earn it.

Bulb is bad - dealer just swapped my right-side bulb last week. I'm still within the warranty so it was no charge. ![Thumb Up](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
No pushback or anything - as soon as I told the service writer the problem he said "that's typical of a bulb going bad - we'll replace it."

Yes, it sounds like the bulb. I replaced one of mine last week. The dealer wanted $60 to replace but I just bought the bulb and put it in myself. It takes about 15 minutes if you've never done it before.

Unfortunately, my dealer, Sacramento Lexus, quoted me about $250 to replace the bulb. Didn't sound like something I wanted to do if the bulb still came on. I was told by a body shop that to check bulb, igniter, and processor, which are the three components of the headlight. I suppose they could replace the bulb and wait a few minutes to see if it goes out. If it does, then it is not the bulb but the igniter or processor.
