Used 2007 ES 350 vs Brand New 2011 Sonata
#31
Someone hit the rear of my 2007 ES350 and needed a new bumper with sensor, etc so I got a rental for 2 weeks. It was 2011 Sonata with all the stuff in it. It had 4 cylinder bit noisey when I accelrate, only 1 month old. Enjoyed driving a new car but as soon as I got my ES back started the engine drove then I knew I really missed it ... there is no comparision between v4 Sonata and ES. I would buy a 4 year old ES anytime over a Sonata.

Someone else raised a good point to: rentals. Any car that gets rented will never hold its value.
Benz and BMW dont compare IMO they ride like crap as they are worried about handling. The interiors feel like im sitting in a car from the 80's and that hard leather, constantly failing electronics, ect.... I really think Lexus is in a class of their own. Ride quality and quitetness would not goto a european car over the lexus IMO and forget hyundai.

Mb and BMW certainly have their place as there are people out there worried about handling. I'd say the majority of us driving want to be comfortable on the commute to work, ect...
Congrats on the new 08!
I've been looking at an 08 ls or gs for myself. The es is for the wife.

are you guys kidding me? hyundai falls apart! A guy I work with has owner a sonata, santa fe, and something else. I know other people with sonatas and accents, ect. Every one of them were in the shop every other month for STUPID little things like windows motors, plastic panels falling off, plastic pieces breaking, windows molding comming off, the antenna rubber falling off . After a few years the paint looks dull and starts drying up. Only good thing about them is the drive-train because its Mitsubishi it doesnt fail. The whole rest of the car WILL. Its GARBAGE! Theres a reason why Lexus can sell a 3 yr old car certified because they LAST dont be fooled theres a clear choice. I dont care why Hyundai says about their quality now I would only buy one if price was the selling factor but have you seen the prices on Hyundai anymore? They are trying to compete with Toyota and Honda now.
Owned a few before bought something German, then Japanese, all American-made cars fell apart on me.

A brand new Sonata is a nice car with good warranty but Hyundai customer service has been really bad... However, I have nothing but praises for Lexus customer service. Even if you get a used/certified car, your next three years will be headache free.

ES350 -vs- Sonata
I have been thinking the same thing lately. The Sonata has been getting rave reviews. BUT, I just can't seem to get past the whole Lexus / Hyundai thing. I am not really impressed with my ES350. Currently dealing with a vibration issue that is driving me crazy. This ES350 doesn't even compare to the earlier ES model I owned. What has happended to Lexus? I'm afraid once I find another car I like I will no longer be a Lexus owner.
