Just got back from a drive over to Kingman, AZ and had a bad experience with the "new" used 2009 ES350. Got out of the motel on Sunday after a night of partying in Seal Beach Yacht Club, ready to drive to Kingman and the car wouldn't open. Got in with key and it wouldn't start. Called fellow partier to bring jumper cables. Just as he drove up, my wife walks up to the car and it starts. Doh. Turns out the dealer who sold us the car didn't bother to install a $0.25 battery in the fob I was carrying. Got home and got two batteries off eBay for $3.00 delivered the next day. Sorta bummed the dealer didn't see fit to make sure the "Certified" car he was selling didn't have a problem the month after it was sold.

In all honesty the battery should not have been worn out.
A couple of months ago I replaced all the batteries in all the fobs in the house. I thought my wife's Oddyssey fob battery was getting low because it wouldn't work more than 10 feet away. While my ES fob works from hundreds of feet away. Turns out that the Honda fobs are junk transmitters. I've beeped my ES from 2 stories away in a concrete parking garage. And I'm always locking the doors from the other side of the house. Seems that the ES fob is so powerful you almost need an FCC license just to operate it.
But the battery was cheap. Now you're set for a couple more years. Better put change the fob battery on your calendar so you don't forget!

How long will the battery in the remote fob last? I have a 2010 ES350 and its Services Guide suggests that one should change the battery every 12 months or 10K miles. Shouldn't it last longer than that?
