Default ES 350 - special ordering of Option packages

Considering to purchase ES 350 2011. I am looking to get just NAV as the option package. The dealer tells i cannot get just Nav. If i need to get Nav, i need to get other things like Park Assist, Full size spare tire etc as part of the package.
Has anyone experienced similar situations? Is this because this is How the car gets sold in East coast area..

I experienced the same thing. If you go to any Lexus dealer website and attempt to "build" the Lexus as you want it, there are 2 option packages in general, package "A" and package "B". These option packages contain the most popular options, and if you want to pick and choose from either package, or want something in addition to what is offered in either package, it is a special order.

I wanted Mark Levinson Sound system with dynamic cruise and some other things that were apart from the option packages so I had to special order.

If you need to special order, I hope you are not in a rush. It is 90 to 120 days for this, and Lexus has stopped production for a while. They should be up and running soon, but the standard wait for special order is 90 to 120. I ordered mine in mid-December, and it is supposed to arrive any day now.

Thanks for clarification. With all the recent happenings in Japan, i will not be surprised 3 to 4 months for a special order is extended further. Just a follow up question on ES 350 feature - Does it come with Jukebox? Meaning will i be able to play mp3 from hard drive directly? I think the answer is No. Just checking since i know German vehicles like Audi has this feature.

Yes, Lexus really only builds cars in two configurations and special orders are really slow and of course discouraged by the dealers. I was tempted to do so for a black leather interior combination that I wanted on my 2010 but finally gave in. You might try changing your zip code in the build your Lexus website and see if what you want is available in another part of the country but I doubt that you will be successful. I did find that the color combination I wanted was available in a different region ( not any more though ) but getting the car was going to be hard to do and costly. My salesman, who has been selling Lexus for over 15 years tells me that he's had a few customers do special orders but has never had one wait for the delivery - they always caved and took something that was available. Good luck.

This is true of any of the models built in Japan. I went thru the same thing when we bought our 4Runner and, as a result, knew the same would happen with the ES.

As an aside, if you are ready to buy, I would not wait. Prices are already going up in this area (Philly burbs) as a shortage is all but guaranteed.

It would probably be cheaper to take a car that's in stock with much more options, then to special order on with less...

I agree. In addition to getting a car quicker, you'd get a better price on one from a dealers inventory vs. a special order.

Default kvsub, see post on next page "My new 2011 ES350"

The third post down describes how to play music from a thumb drive to the usb connection. I immagine this would work the same way for any external source.
