Default Dealership Service costs

Can you guys please chime in here and tell me what I should let Dealer do and what I should do outside of dealer.

MY '07 warranty expires in 10 days.

Think I want to buy extended warranty - does this mean I need to have dealer do the work?

1. Oil pan and gasket due to impact and rust corrosion $599.95
2. Passenger wiper blade, driver's side wiper rubber insert, engine and cabin air filters $299.95
3. Fuel system service $189.95
4. Throttle body service $89.95
5. Oil and filter change $49.95

NO

1. Oil pan and gasket due to impact and rust corrosion $599.95
Rust should be covered under warranty. longer then power train.
Is it leaking?

2. Passenger wiper blade, driver's side wiper rubber insert, engine and cabin air filters $299.95

DON'T DO IT> very simple DYI at home buy parts online.
these are very simple to replace, you don't even need a screwdriver.
All parts and instructions can be searched for on here.

3. Fuel system service $189.95
They don't do much for this price. If it said a full Throttle body cleaning then maybe I would consider. You can drop in the fuel additive they sell at Toyota Parts at your next fill up for an extra $15

4. Throttle body service $89.95
This is a must, when you get this cleaned it totally wakes up any car you will see a short duration of better fuel economy and more power, until it gets dirty again. need to be done probably between 36K and 60K depending on how often you change your AIR filter and your driving conditions.

5. Oil and filter change $49.95
I don't do any service at the dealer and I still have two years of warranty on my 09 ES 350.

They charge way to much and you have to remember this is a very standard Toyota engine that most good mechanics are very familiar with.

Unless this is warranty work, my car will not see the dealer.

Everything on your list would most likely be @ half cost at a good mechanic even with an $80 hr labor rate.

The key to long life is OEM Parts and timely service.
Don't neglect the car and it will take care of you.

Thanks - I guess I will pay for dealer to do #4 and #5.

Car was brought in because warranty is due to expire and i had some strange noise happening at start up - turns out they are changing the Cam Actuator but want me to do 1-5 at my cost...

I have not seen the oil pan 'damage' and rust so I cant say if they will blame the rust on the damage due to driver error.

Anyway - I want to but extended warranty - but don't want to have to pay an extra $700 to replace an oil pan if I don't have to.

So advise is to convince dealer that rust happened first and they should replace oil pan under warranty???
