Default Oversteering in ES350?

Hello all,

I have 2010 ES350. I don't drive much on this car. However, I do have a feeling when I accelerate it the car tends to oversteer. Is it normal? Is it because the car has powerful engine and it's front wheel drive?

Thanks,
-bdar

It sounds like torque steer which is common in FWD cars with higher hp and torque. Not much can be done about it except a lighter touch with the gas pedal.

I agree with Lexbob2, sounds like torque steer. When trying to accelerate quickly try not to mash down the pedal, just press it quickly enough not to go to second right away but slow enough neither of the tires can start to loose any traction. Also, check your tire pressure, and be sure to have the same type and wear level of tire on the front.

I agree. I had a 2008 Nissan Maxima. Oversteering like crazy during take off.

Torque steer is when the steering wheel pulls to one side on FWD cars during hard acceleration.

Oversteer is when the car turns more sharply than expected or desired in relation to the amount you're turning the steering wheel.

In otherwords - not the same thing.
