I had the dash rattle on my 07 ES350 repaired under warranty by the dealer in 08 (I believe there was a TSB on this as others have mentioned). The dealer report said they removed the dash and insulated all contact points with felt and foam. All was fine until a few months ago and the rattle has returned. Despite the car being past the warranty period is the dealer still responsible since this was a structural defect? It's certainly not worth paying to have them repeat this since this was a big job.

Update: I had our local Lexus service manager drive the car. He confirmed the excessive rattle and offered to send Lexus a note requesting they repair despite way past warranty (63,000 miles). He mentioned things like it was our 4th Lexus, etc. The point I made was that their initial fix was by shoving in foam and felt which would deteroriate over time (the new factory fix uses revised, padded clips) Lexus agreed to fix the car withour charge!!!
