Default 2007 es 350- security question

Hi club lexus, someone broke into my es350 recently (actually i think i left the car unlocked and someone got in and stole a couple of items from the car). Is there a way to set the car to lock up by itself after leaving it unlocked for a few minutes? My camry had this feature(standard). Please help

You can verify this in the manual (and it's available online now too: https://secure.drivers.lexus.com/lex...nual-search.do) but it's a setting the dealer has to adjust.

seems to suggest the car will lock itself after 60 seconds but I don't know if that's after you exit the car or if you press unlock but neglect to open a door within 60 seconds.

All I can say is that if my car was ever broken into, I don't think I'd ever forget to lock the car again!

In five years of being on this forum I have never seen any mention of this feature. I do know that if you unlock the car and do not open a door it will automatically relock itself. My ES 300 also did this. I found it annoying at first, until I realized the benefit.

But automatically lock itself...not that I am aware of.

I am pretty sure that the Lexus cannot be dealer programed to automatically lock upon leaving the car - too many unintended consequences or something. The only setting that I am aware of is maybe the timing on the relocking if you unlock the doors but do not open them which is good if you manage to inadvertenly unlock the car, kind of like pocket unlocking.

My wife has the lock' feature on her 05 ES 330. It can be annoying but in this case it would have been great to have implemented. I believe the dealer has to set for you as was mentioned above. You have 60 seconds to to either reopen your door after exit, after that, to door automatically lock. Check out the link below and check with a dealer to confirm, I'm sure a phone call will suffice.

I checked with dealer and they confirmed that the Lexus cannot be dealer programmed to automatically lock upon leaving the car, the es350 gives you 60 seconds to open the door after unlocking the car after that, to door automatically lock.
