I say go for it. I was 21 when I got my 1996 ES 300 and I drove it past 400,000 miles before it got rear ended. I really loved that ES and would definitely get another one. I just got a 2011 CT200h and loving it so far especially how great the mpg's I'm getting...

I urge you to let go of being so concerned about the perceptions of others. Why give unknown others so much influence & power? Be who you are.

I think it makes sense to work backwards. Ask yourself "What do I want/need in my car?" These may be Safety; Reliability; Amenities; Speed; Fuel mileage; Interior feel; Value; AWD; FWD; or whatever matters to you.

Then trust yourself and go for what matches your desires!

Some rims, maybe a 1" drop to close the gap between the wheels and the body, intake, and lip kit. How many 60 year olds do you see riding that clean lol. All in all its up to you, A Lexus is a Lexus, in the end of the day the ladies wanna sex us loll jk let us know what you decide to do n good luck on your search!

When I was about your age I wanted to get a 1964 (yes, I am that old) 4-door Lincoln sedan probably in black and everyone told me I was crazy so I "settled" for a 64 Ford 2-door hardtop. I still wish I would have bought the Lincoln - it is still a beautiful car. Go for it.

Get it be different!I'm 29 and have one I got it when I was 27. I get a lot of compliments because its different. I have mine lowered and on wheels. Older gentlemen and young people compliment the car alike. Do you! Not everybody else..... just my 2 cents

Have you looked at a 2008 IS 250 or 2008 IS 350? Either way a Lexus is a Lexus and you can't go wrong either way...good luck...

i would say go for it i am young too and i bout the ES350, and thought about the same thing such as people thinking it wasnt mine... but now it hooked up and doesnt look like a 60year old car... i love my es but my co-worker parks her GS350 next to me everyday, it makes me think why didnt i get the GS, partially because she got the GS amonth before i got my ES...although i told her i wanted the GS first then she went and got it after i told her i wanted it...

I don't know your financial situation but my advice to an 18 y/o is save your money, life will come at you fast. If you keep your current car, assuming it's reliable transportation just think of all the partying or traveling you can do with the money you save from a Lexus car payment!

With that said, if you really want a luxury brand, get the CT-200h. You'll love the versatility of a 5dr, still look cool, no one will mistake you for driving your parents old ES, and it'll get great gas mileage in the city.

Either way, as other's have stated, it's your car and so long as you love it then who cares what others think.

Good luck!

I say go with the ES if that is your choice, while it's true the ES is purchased by more older buyers, I doubt if people will stop and say "Wow do you see that 18 y/o driving that ES". I think there are so many other important things to worry about. Hey, what about a 75 y/o driving a sports car, some would say yeah he's too old. Too old? I don't think so, you are never too old...and yes young to enjoy life. The ladies will say when they see you in the ES: "Now that's a dude with class and style and maybe $$$". If you keep the ES looking buff, trust me, you will get noticed in a positive way. no matter what age. Buy it!!

Default Get a GS

You should consider the GS instead of the ES and you will never look back. GS has RWD vs FWD and unique style. Personally, I think the ES is boring and has similar style as newer Camry. I'm 30 and I can't imagine myself in the ES as many older drivers around my place driving one.

I looked at the GS and when comparing a new ES and GS you'll have sticker shock. I love the GS too but it's over priced IMO.

yeah, I think the GS looks awesome. and I like the RWD over FWD but just like the ES350 is an overpriced camry, the GS is an overpriced avalon. Its still a toyota any way you look at it! It all comes down to Doing what you can afford. Get the ES ad a couple of cheap things so it doesnt look to much like an "old persons car" and you will be happy, and besides, nobody said you could never trade it in a couple years down the road.

The ES350 is definitely related to the Camry, and IMHO, that's a good thing. However, the ES is far more refined. My wife has had both, and IMO the refinement is worth the money. The GS is in no way shape or form related to the Avalon. Overpriced? Not in my opinion.
