The car is white with grey interior, wood trim n has camera and navigation, multiple disc and tinted window. Mileage is almost 80,000. Listed price is $19,777. the thing is I noticed the bumper color is different than the body. so we suspect that it is not original. they said its clean title on carfax but we know that not all accidents showed on paper . Also I think the old owner smokes because the car has some smell to it, and I wonder if there's a solution to make the smell go away So the question is How much should I bargain with the seller? should I buy this car? is there anything I should do to make sure I get what I pay for? thanks for your time.

The color difference is harder to see outside but shows pretty well when I took some photos with my iphone.

The bumper is expendable. It could have been as simple as another car just "touching" it. I had my front bumper replaced due to hitting a large dog on the interstate. No structural damage but the bumper was ripped into 3 pieces and I lost a fog light.

check this dealer.. his prices are all country low. so use his prices as an indicator.. he buys from auction and adds a low markup.... V low.. he is a high vol re seller. sells 1K cars a month. if u go to him and want to test drive a car. it takes 1 hour wait..

80k is a lot of miles not knowing how the car was treated and maintained etc. $16k-$17k might be a good price.

Or you could take your $20k or so and buy a new car with factory warranty, not smoked in, and you'd be the first owner.

As far as the miles on the car, 80k is alot for a 2007, I mean it is basicaly a toyota and they are built for 200k+, if your buying the car from a good dealer then you should be able to purchase a bumper to bumper for a couple years and tack the price on to your monthly payments. I know carfax is more or less a waste of time when it comes to reporting accidents. If I were you and was really interested in the car I would see how many previous owners there were and if it was a lease or a financed vehicle. The rear bumper was def removed or replaced and painted. I would check the rear suspension underneath for rust or scrapes, stuff that would indicate how hard it was hit in the rear. I love haggling with car salesmen, I think 19,777 is a bit much, tell him you'll do 18,000 and no more! You wont get any lower than that because the dealer is gonna throw KBB and NADA price (I think about $23k w/ the nav) in you face with that "clean carfax" report. But hey, thats just what I would do, do whatever makes you happy.

Sure isn't hard to see even in that small pic. Are you going to be happy with that? I wouldn't accept it. Miles are high, and smoked in.

I'll sell you my smokey granite '07 with 41K miles, never been smoked in and meticulously maintaind ES for that.

There's enough of them around to not settle for this one. I personally wouldn't buy it just because of the smell - even if it was $15k.

I just bought a Lexus certified 2007 ES 350 with 24k mile for 3k more than the asking price you quoted. Just check the inventory at jmlexus.com to compare, they have lots of inventory and good pricing.

I decided not to buy that car of course
After a while of debating, I've decided to get the IS instead of ES. gonna go check out an 09 IS after work today. It's Starfire Pearl, tan interior, loaded, no navigation, 27,000 miles. List price is $27k. is that a good price?
