Default Lexus Defines Sporty Luxury With New Special Editions

i got this email . below is ES info.. so. conclusion is that they are souping up the same base models for a few more years.. no sign of a new ground up design afer 2007.

Are sporty and luxury mutually exclusive adjectives when it comes to describing cars? As a Lexus Enthusiast, you know they're not. And the latest slew of Special Edition models is further proof of such refinement. Skip past the jump to check out three sexy new Special Editions that define sporty luxury. As Lexus continues to broaden its appeal, they will offer more and more exclusive exterior and interior features for an even sportier look and feel. The first offerings are the 2012 LS 460 Sport Special Edition, the 2012 ES 350 Touring Edition and the 2012 CT 200h F Sport Special Edition.

"The Special Edition models will offer our customers choices to fit their luxury and sporty needs," said Mark Templin, Lexus Division group vice president and general manager. "With the unique and exclusive package offerings, the Special Edition models further demonstrate Lexus' commitment to our customers."

ES 350 Touring Edition

The 2012 ES 350 Touring Edition is available in both Stargazer Black and Starfire Pearl, with either option providing intergalactic good looks. The Touring Edition sparkles above the competition by including the following:

-17-inch 10-spoke wheels in Liquid Graphite finish with full-size spare wheel and tire
-Wood and leather-trimmed steering wheel and shift ****
-Heated and ventilated front seats
-Lexus HDD Navigation System
-Saddle Tan leather-trimmed seats, center console lid and door armrest
-Brown Walnut wood trim

I've heard the new gen ES will be a 2013 (no real confirmation though). Maybe this is just to add some interest for a year until the next gen.

Too bad it doesn't offer a little firmer suspension and maybe tighten up the steering and handling a bit. But I guess that's not the character of the ES350.

Other than the Saddle Tan leather I am not sure what else is special. I think I have all of the other things on my 2011 ES,

Just for the Saddle/Tan leather added on?

Hmm. I want power folding mirrors, power door closures, power trunk, ML Stereo, LED DRLs. That would make it a special edition!

While probably not a big deal to current owners, I suppose this Special Edition will appeal to some potential buyers and maybe lure them away from more recently updated competitive models.

The interior is nice - but it's far from being fully optioned. Basically it's an ES350 with special color leather, the UL wheels and Nav - big deal. Most cars have the heated/vent. seats anyway. This one is lacking park assist and power sunshade - and probably the rain sensing wipers.

Meh.

Looks like it doesn't have HID's either.

Never did care for the saddle colored interiors. Reminds me that I am sitting on a baseball glove or a real saddle.

On the Lexus website, noticed that you can build an 2012 Ultra whereas you could never before. Maybe a flood of Ultras coming to a dealer near you. I remember seeing a picture of ES350s on a Lexus dealer's lot in Dubai a few years ago and they were all Ultra versions.

I saw that too. Around here Ultras were very hard to find. It might be easier to get a 2012..

They might be tough to find for purchase (used) but I think there are two here at work and I see at least one or two on the roads each week while I commute.

I think no one wants to sell them

The only one I could find in my area when replacing my crashed 2007 was in white with beige interior (not a fan of beige) and the miles were high.
