![Question](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
I just purchased my '08 ES350 and am thinking I want to upgarde the sound system... Can you share your experience and what has worked or been a disaster?
Also, heard about replacement head units but am somewhat skeptical...
Thanks in advance,

I'm the only one that has replaced the entire head unit.

Robert_J:
Looked through your install; very helpful. I'm looking to do the door speakers at the very least - they're missing so much of the mids that it's almost sickening. I see you have "spacer/adapters" - went out looking for these, as I have some 6x9 infinity speakers that I could repurpose on the cheap. The spacers you use look like they add about an inch of depth - this obviously allows your speakers to clear the window; is that right?

Alright.... back on topic.
I plan on keeping the stock head unit; I like the functionality out of it. I don't need anything fancy - no screen/gps (have a phone for that) and don't want to lose the integration of the bluetooth, however simple that it is.
I will be upgrading the speakers - at least in the front doors. The rear doors aren't fed a full signal from what I've read elsewhere - and I'm never going to be siting in the back so I'm not too worried about it. I have some 6x9 infinity reference speakers that I'm planning on using spacers to get them to fit the stock locations. I may toy with the idea of changing out the capacitor on the tweets. Will be keeping the stock amplifier for now; who knows - maybe at some point I will change that, but I feel it gets loud enough for anything I want to listen to.
I'm going to experiment with an infinity basslink module in the trunk. I am used to 2 JL audio subs in my last ride but I'm not as concerned with a hard hit in this car as I am filling in the low end. Will tap into the front two speaker outs in the trunk (stock amp is located there, from what I've heard on the right side). If the basslink doesn't fulfill this need; I will have 4 gauge already run to a distribution block so I can do whatever I need there.
Those are my plans. I haven't done any of this yet, as I bought the car in the fall and haven't really wanted to start anything with work being hectic and the cold out....
