Default synthetic oil @10K miles for ES350

Found this information on toyota web site, they state that 2012 Camry can have 10K oil change interval with synthetic oil.
WTF, how come with ES350 2012 which basically has the same engine, they require 5K oil changes, even if you use synthetic.

They figure that people who buy a Lexus has more money then people who by a Camry.

yeah, that's what I figured. I was at lexus dealer getting 1K service, asked about their prices.
60$ regular oil change, and $90, and they strongly recommend synthetic every 5K!
WTF. I'll be getting into my own oil changes soon....

Never understood the purpose of synthetic oil if it gets changed at same interval as semi-synthetic (multi-grade)?
Can I have some of this oil you guys are throwing away? I run oil until it changes color regardless of the miles. I have three in the drive that has over 200k, never had internal engine issues yet (Knock-on-wood).
Stay with Pennsylvania grade and NO detergent crap, absolutely NEVER Texas grades (Mobile, Texaco etc...) unless you like to replace main and valve seals. That stuff is for chainsaw bar oil and oil-cans.

Interesting....... Must be a fluke that I have 1,500,000 total miles on various cars driven over 200k+ and my second rolling over 300k shortly all on Mobil 1 since new?

Been using Mobil 1 since I could not get Arco Graphite anymore. Never any issue with the engine innards on any car since the 80's.

Isn't marketing great. It makes people do/buy things that aren't necessary and yet makes them feel good because they spent more money to do it. What a country.

Mobil1 is my choice also. Not about marketing, just a product I've been using on all my cars, and never had problems with it. Its more like preference. That's why I dont want dealer's overpriced synthetic oil, which is NOT mobil1.

I wonder how much dealer charges for oil change if you bring your own supply of Mobil1?

For me, It flows faster in the Winter and it is standard on new Corvettes for a reason.

Even in my wife's Acura RDX turbo charged, which is not as expensive as Corvette, Mobil1 is factory fill.
