Hey guys,
I am having an issue with my 2009 ES350 battery dying. It seems to be draining. About three weeks ago my battery died so I had it replaced with a new one. Just a few days ago the new battery died. It was recharged and it seems fine so I thought it could of been the alternator. I had the car go in for service to check it out. Lexus dealership says everything is fine and it might be the amplifier that I installed. That could be the likely culprit but I don't know what could be wrong. I have a 8 AWG power cable connected from my battery with a in line fuse to my amplifer (Audiobahn 4004t) 150 watt and the turn on lead is connected to the gray wire behind the stock radio which is an accessory 12+ turn on. When I turn on the car, the amplifier turns on. (Does anyone know the correct wire to have the amp turn on when the radio turns on?) Does anyone have any suggestions on what should I check or have an idea on whats wrong?
Thanks

How long does it take when the car is off to drain it? You could do one of these:
1. Disconnect the amp at the fuse the next time it sits. See if battery dies after the time period.
2. Use an ammeter to see if your amp is still pulling juice from the battery even if the remote turn on wire is off.
That will help tell if the amp is your culprit.

Had you driven it at all between the 1st and the 16th? I guess what I'm trying to ask is how much downtime does the car have before it's dead?
If you don't know how to use an ammeter, I'd ask a friend to see if they're familiar with how to use one. Basically with the car OFF put the ammeter in line with the + lead to the amplifier. If you see much more than 50ma or so of draw I would suspect the amp pulling too much when it's supposed to be "off". The other thing to check - make sure that remote wire that you wired up is truly only on when the accessory is on. Make sure the amp lights (usually have one to show power) are off when you expect them to be....
