Default Inconsistent crank/start time

So my '08 ES350 is developing a slight issue. Truth be told, it's had this issue for about a year now. I got used to my car turning over immediately when I hit the Start/Stop button. Last winter it started cranking for a few seconds and would then turn over. I chalked it up to the winter weather.

But...it was doing it all this past summer too. Even in warm temperature, and sometimes even after driving the car, going shopping for a few hours and coming back, it'll take up to 5 seconds to turn over. Depending how long I left it and ambient temperature, after a few hours and the 5 second crank, engine temp comes up as 1/4 to 1/3. BUT....if I stop the car and immediately restart, the engine turns over immediately. If I leave it for a short period of time (i.e. less than an hour), it will start immediately.

I should have posted about this sooner probably, but I have no idea what it is.

68,000mi / 109,000 km which should be far from a spark plug replacement, but that's the first thing my mechanic suggested.

I'm open to ideas......thanks.

Had similar issues with my 2007, replaced battery before it needed to be in 11/10 as my mechanic noticed that the start up was a little slow. No issues after that but traded car in this past October for 2011. New owner gets the benefit.

Same issue.............Replaced Battery with a 24F battery, resolved the issue...Could have used a 35 battery, but the 24F had a higher cold cranking amp and reserve rating..Hope this helps...........Note, when u replace the battery use the backup battery system that plugs into the under the dash computer connection so you dont lose the memory settings, etc..........

Before I read the other two responses above mine, I said to myself: "Sounds like he needs a new battery."

I guess great minds think alike. Ha-ha.
