Default $700 for a new door speaker cover!!

Since I bought my car used, there was a small rip in the passenger side speaker cover. Thinking that I could just order a new cover, I called my local Lexus dealership today and he said it would cost me $700 because I would have to buy the whole door panel.

Does that sound right???

I also have some small scratches on the glove compartment door but was scared to even ask how much that would be to replace.

Sounds exactly right. To repair that little piece of plastic that hold the door glass, not available. You get to buy the whole door glass assembly, for a cost of $800 or so installed.

Unfortunately, car manufacturers have found that they can save lots of money by NOT stocking every little individual part like they used to years ago. Now they simply offer major assemblies as spares. You will also find that anything you need/want will likely have to be ordered, as the dealers don't maintain as many parts in stock as they used to.

Now you know why your insurance rates keep going up too!

Ditto RickC5. Cost control in the production, major cost in replacement part modules. Same consultant that advised banks on all of their "gotcha" fees.

you could just go to a car upholstery shop... and they could repair it for a fraction of that...

Or you could repair it yourself for even less.

Are you talking about the grill cloth? That's about $5/yard from Parts Express. Post some pics and I'm sure we can help you out.

So im guessing the chrome trim on the door handle (were you put your hand to shut the door) would be the same cost huh? She scratched the hell out of it somehow. Im thinking her ring or something.

Default 2007 RX 350 door speaker cover

I was wondering why my side door wouldn't shut, and then realized too late that I had a curtain rod in there and it punched a hole in my left back door speaker cover.
I can't find that part....does that mean I have to buy and get installed a total door panel? 2007 RX 350.

They may have the panel on e-bay motors. Do a search for the panel under parts and accessories.

Checked on e-bay motors. They have tons of door panels for sale. Just procure the right color and door and have your local garage install it.
