DIY chrome rocker panel (like the newer models)
I have a 2008 and wanted to do the chrome trim
at the bottom of the doors like the latest models....found it pretty cheap too!
I'll post pics when complete. Just ordered it today.

chome is done...
really great product and convincingly enough,
it looks like the real deal. Just waiting for the Lexus dealership to send my clips... more to follow.
very happy with this product!

Curious as to how much the film cost you.
$600 for the Lexus parts is nuts.

Thanks, the link for the film is in my first post....you'll want the 48/12 inch option so around 45 bucks with a felt with applicator squeegie running around 52 and shipping was free. The hardest part has been the molding itself with the clips (Lexus charged me 42 for 22 clips total) so around 100 dollars for the entire mod. Also you will need some 3m tape you'll see why when you take the panel off. The film was rather easy to work with, I cut 3 inch strips...the front door trim is around 45 inches and the rear doors are about 22-25, I forget. Anyway, I laid out the film above the piece I was covering with the panel in my lap and starting from the middle outward....also no worries about air bubbles becasue you can pull up the product and smooth it out, it's easy to work with and it stretches also. It's not flawless by any means and there is some crinkle around the round edges (heat gun would sort this out) Highly suggest taking the panels off though because I wouldnt try fiming w/ the panels on the car. Like I said the hardest part were the panels and clips themselves...you''ll see what I'm talking about when the panels are removed...good luck I should have pics up by this afternoon...

A big difference at $100 vs the $600 mentioned.I always liked the look of that chrome trim.
They did away with it and the chrome door handles on the '13 ES.

funny thing is I was looking at the dealership at a 2012 es...the chome panel with the coloring at the bottom is the same fitment as the older models. The doors havent changed and neither has the rocker panel. The chrome piece and the trim stick out further on the newer model with the chrome trim molded above the door, so if you pay 600 for the oem I'd get the newer 2012 panel for an older model car....thats if you have the resources lol

alright it's finally complete! my car is very dirty due to all of this lovely NY weather we've been having so I'm going to wait a few days to take her near a car wash and let the 3m tape and everything else settle but very happy with the results....you cant tell if its real or not but upon closer inspection it's still very hard to tell.
