I noticed my dashboard was doing this yesterday morning;





Convinced it was now exhibiting signs of "sticky/melting dash", I abruptly went to the dealer and met with the service manager who finally acknowledged the issue and ordered a new dash!

Hoping they can address the airbag recall at the same time but I am in Zone B which my dealer claims is still waiting on parts.

My parts came in for both the airbag recall & the sticky melting dash issue which were both addressed today. So far I am very happy with the results;

Got dashboard replaced after around 3 months bring it in for recall. The old one is still good as new with only a few scratches, but they replaced anyway as they made money from Lexus corp i guess. New one looks good and no smell at all like some previous posts, so i am happy for a 10 years old car getting a $1750 dashboard with labor for free, plus more than a day of free 2017 Rx350 loaner to drive around.

ive been waiting almost 6 months now for my new dash.. why is lexus taking so long. Is this normal?

After 3 months i just called them about the status of my recall and was told the dash was there a quite awhile but no one at dealer nor my service adviser did bother to call me. So i guess you should give them a call to find out.

I called them. they said the dashboard was there and scheduled for the repair to be done. Car is looking much better now but the dashboard feels like the same as original material. hope this one doesnt melt.

I received a call yesterday from my Lexus dealer stating that the dash for my car had finally come in and I could set up an appointment to have it installed. The crazy thing is, I was unaware that a dash was even on order for my vehicle. I bought the car in August 2017 so they believe maybe the previous owner was on the waiting list. I haven't noticed any melting or stickiness on my dash. I went ahead and set up an appointment anyway. Should I go through with having it replaced or "if it ain't broke don't fix it"? Is the material any different?

The original dashboard material was supposed to be biodegradable. Problem was that is warm climates, it degraded a little too quickly. The replacement is supposed to be different. You might also check to see if that car had the airbag recall done. I think it would make sense to o it at the same time

I had the airbag recall completed about a month after I purchased the car. I took a closer look at my dash today. It was about 85 degrees or so. I noticed that the dash is rather shiny but it's not sticky to the touch. Thanks for your opinion. I think I'll go ahead and get it done. After all it is FREE.

When I thought it was going to be my responsibility I called the stealership and they quoted me part #: 5540133211CO.

When I finally convinced Lexus to cover it, this was the portion of the repair ticket with all kinds of codes/numbers for labor/parts I presume;
