My replacement back in 2009 was aftermarket at that price per the windshield installer. OEM Lexus would have been more.

i had my windshield replaced on my 2010 last yr. Had it installed @ 294.00 ...just pulled invoice . he let me know for Lexus, BMW , ETC THEY get exact windshield from manufacture where Lexus does. Comes with the sensor on top, etc he mentioned couple other things. The only difference vs Lexus one( for$400-500 more from what I remember ) is it doesnt have Lexus logo on the very bottom of shield, if you look you will see it. Would have to take a look at manufacture but they looked indentical and he assured me they were indentical and gave me lifetime warranty for free replacement. As someone even said Lexus will even steer you to Auto glass installer. No noise difference detection...I closely examined the one he was putting on and one he replaced....he made sure i looked...same windshield .

Safelite is big.
I've heard Pennington is a very good aftermarket glass.

Garsamo....based on my experience last yr ...if you or your ins paid 1200.00 you got bit quite a bit. As I mentioned i was charged 283.00 and other quote over the ph. for OEM glass was like 25-35.00 higher went for lower one. Since this was brought up I just looked up Pilkington Glass ( manufacture ) pretty impressive Worldwide operation for Buildings & Autos. Hopefully ins didnt go up....safe Driving !

Thanks.
I actually meant Pilkington.

Another good glass is acoustically treated SoundMaster windshield made by Pittsburgh Glass Works (PGW) (they make windshields for a lot of car makers). I"SoundMaster PGW"
UV protection glass too.

I've had too many bad experiences to ever put another aftermarket windshield in a car. I just had the windshield replaced in mine had fought my insurance company for OEM glass and got it, $1,600 installed.

Even though they tell you its the "same glass" its not. The only way to know for sure that its the same acoustic glass, the same thickness and quality is to get the same one that the factory put on in my experience.

A $294 windshield just cannot be the same as a $1,200 Aashi made OEM Lexus windshield. I mean...just the install of the OEM Lexus one was more than that...

I paid the $50 deductible and drove on. Traded it in 10/11. I remember how it happened - was in right lane on 4 lane highway going speed limit of 45mph. Car passed me and sent the tiniest piece of stone, hit the windshield on my drivers side, heard a little ping and there was the little crack.

I paid $50 too...

Stick to your guns and demand what you want. The bottom line is the car cannot be brought back to OEM specs with inferior aftermarket glass.

This car should last you 200 to 300k miles easily with little maintenance. My is300 has 260kmiles with only oil change =)
