Your drain fill plug leak is uncommon. It was likely not tightened after a previous service. As long as you are removing the plug to replace the gasket, it might be a good time to do a drain and fill on your tranny fluid. There's lots of good DIY info on doing this job on both CL and YouTube.
It's the o-ring for the sensor on top of the transmission. not the drain plug. I did a drain and fill service 2 years/6000 miles ago (genuine toyota fluid)
the below is the same exact symptoms I;m experiencing. going to get this done tomorrow.
so this did not resolve my problem. I woke up to a small puddle this morning. I have bigger issues. I think the seal is bad which probably requires intense labor to replace.....fml
Where the oil is coming from? Is it engine or transmission oil?
It's transmission oil. I'm at the shop now- they showed me the issue. My transmission pan is leaking. Going to replace the gasket and do a drain and fill
It shouldn’t take more than 25 minutes for someone who knows what they are doing. The labor is mainly removing a few things out of the way to have access to the speedometer cover assembly. I think as far as properly adjusting for the transmission fluid loss ( if that is indeed your issue), you probably have to do a fluid change and get the level right that way. I didn't want to go that route.
I found a helpful video that talks about this issue
I'm resurrecting an old thread, but it seems as though I have the same issue. I'm ordering the o-ring. This video has been taken down but would've been helpful. Is there anything else involved? Remove the air box and the 1 bolt? No need for the sensor if everything is working properly. I'm guessing it just pops right in and out and there's not much else to it?
