Default Peeling Steering Wheel

Hello, I am new to the boards and hope I am placing this in the correct forum. I purchased a previously owned 2007 ES350 in 2009 without an extended warranty. Last year, the coverings for the radio volume and the phone started to peel. I asked the dealer about it and was told the entire steering wheel would have to be replaced. They proceeded to tell me if I had purchased the extended warranty, the steering wheel could be replaced for free. However without the warranty, I am looking at a bill of over $400. The steering wheel works perfectly fine. It is just unpleasing to my eye. I asked if there were covers I could purchase to go over the two areas. Again, that was not an option. It seems really silly to pay that much to fix the problem and who knows if the replacement wheel would not encounter the same problem. Oh, I forgot to mention, I barely touch those areas of the steering wheel, so I am even more frustrated by their condition. Can anyone out there offer a solution?

Welcome to the forum. Now do a search! Your problem has discussed many times, and some have found a repair that does not involve replacing the steering wheel.
