Grinding sound after the car is started?
Every once in a while I hear a sound coming out of the motor compartment right after the car starts.
The sound is similar to the sound of a fan hitting the fan shroud in older model cars. It happens just for a second but it bothers me.

I know from owning several ES that during the really cold weather, those starters make a strange noise just for a second or so.
Just guessing....

That is my guess also. I guess I will have to wait till it completely breaks before I do anything.

Mine does that every once in a while. I believe it is the oil pumping up through the variable valve timing solenoids. It just does this once, every few weeks, and then - nothing after that.
