Default trying to price my 2010 ES

So I got the promotion. I would like to step it up to a used LS. but first I must trade in my 2010 Lexus ES Ultra Lux. Package. I just bought the car last year and owe $23k on it. every dealer I go to they try to buy me out for $16-$18k. its a 2010 Es with the Ultra lux package - color: truffle mica interior -black. millage- 75,500. car is in excellent condition. no sounds or squeaks, rides smooth etc. everywhere I look I cannot find a similar car like my es for under $25k. lexus McGrath in Illinois has a 2007 lexus es ultra lux with 70k miles on it and its selling for $25k and they wouldn't even give me more for my newer, better condition car. I hate dealers! I am thinking about posting it in a classified. what do you guys think a fair price for my car would be?

You might take it to a Car Max location and see what they'll give you for it. Only takes about 1/2 hour and you'll get a written quote that's good for 7-10 days or something like that.

What ever Kelly Blue Book says it is for your area.

Without knowing what options to add on the checklists, Kelley Blue Book says that the trade-in value is between $16K and $19k, depending on condition. If you try to sell it yourself, the Private Party value is between $19k and $22k. If you owe $23k, then you've got some negative equity that you need to pay down before you can trade or sell the car. Auto dealers always know exactly what the book values are on cars and roughly what they can sell them for. They are not in business to lose money, but rather to make money. Make sure you have researched vehicle values on KBB.COM and NADAGUIDES.COM before purchasing or selling a car to know what the price should be.

Don't need to. Just start a thread here and someone else will do it for you.

Just takes a little longer to get your answer.

Put it on Craigslist and see what happens.
Here's an '11 Ultra in Chicagoland for $25,000 with 57,000 miles. I bet a sharp negotiator could slap $22,000 on the table and drive it home. That's what you're up againest.

I'm surprised there are not more for sale in your town.

Part of the issue too is 75k miles is high for a 2010. Thats 25k miles a year. It may be that you can't find another 2010 on the market for less than $25k, but I would venture to say those cars are 50k miles or under. Huge difference there, those are still under warranty, yours is not. Buyers really put a lot of stock in these things.

I think if you have a dealer that will give you 18k for it thats probably the best you'll do on trade. You can sell it, but my guess is you're not going to get more than 20k on your own. They'll probably list it for $23k and accept $21-$22k.
