Default Issue with auto wipers

My auto rain sence wipers go on in the evening when there is no rain periodically is this because the humidity sometime in evening I come out to the car and looks like its been rained on but there has been no rain

Yes. This would occasionally happen to me when I would park my car outside and leave early in the morning. My biggest complaint with it was that it would also smudge all the dirt/dust around on my windshield.
I just stopped putting it on auto except when it actually rained.

Ah ok thanks for the help here I like it on auto I know this sounds messed up but sometime when it starts to rain I forget to put the wipers on for other cars so that's one thing I enjoy about the rain sence on this and my last vehicle

Does anyone know if the sensor for the rain sensing wipers needs regular cleaning/maintenance/etc? Where is the sensor?

my rain sensor stopped working and eventually the black box/holder kept falling off the windshield. On the back side there is a rain sensor "tape" that can sometimes dry out/get dirty and need replacement $30 or so.... My problem turned out to be the connector.

My dealer had a hell of a time getting the black box the stick to the windshield. Eventually he had to replace the windshield w new rain sensor after 5 separate tries!!! (extended warranty )

You are right. That sounds messed up. Large drops on windshield--turn on wipers.
