Is it worth it?
I've been offered a 2007 Lexus ES 350 for around $9000. The car is relatively clean. The miles in the car is what's drawing me away a little, the car is at around 140,895 miles. Mostly freeway driven. Has anyone on this forum buy a Lexus with a lot of miles? If so, how was or is your experience with the car? How long did you have it for? Any problems?
Thanks!

I bought a 2007 UL from a friend of mine with 88K miles on it back in Sept 2012. Since then I've put almost another 45K on it, mostly highway miles, and it still runs great. These cars have timing chains, not belts, and are really rock solid engines as long as you do the required maintenance on them (fluid changes, etc). Since I've owned the car the only things I've had to do are oil and filter changes, replaced top motor mount, new front brakes and rotors (my friend was hard on the brakes) and one HID bulb.
Good luck in your search!

I just bought my CPO 2008 last week. After the first day I owned my car I noticed the lumbar was working intermittently. I called my dealer to schedule a service. While I was on the phone my wife told me there was a small leak from where my car was parked in the garage so I told them about that too and to look at it. Took my car in today and I was told my water pump was bad and they were replacing it. I have 69300 miles on my car. Im lucky I bought a CPO car because my warranty was extended to 100000 miles, otherwise I would have fought tooth and nail for them to fix that since it was not even a week into my ownership. Not meant to scare you, just what happened to my particular vehicle. Otherwise, I am quite happy with my car. I did get a 2013 ES hybrid...that thing was very nice. But I do like the 08 seats better than the 2013.

I'm curious if the water pump design is changed at all; otherwise I would expect to get about the same amount of life out of it (7 years or 60k...) On the plus side, water pump change == antifreeze change as well. Dealership will probably ding you for a belt change though; and I fought with my service advisor about this ($185!!!) but he didn't budge at all.

I think we went side track with the main question. Point is it's a very good car aside very few repairs to make it new again. The car is that good that I'm planning to make some maintenance to give it another 100 000 miles. After that, i'm jumping to the 6th generation.
