Default Tie Rod

I need to replace the inner / outer tie rods on our 2009 ES350. Does anyone have a torque value for the inner tie rod to steering rack? I've only been able to find values for the outer so far.

Thanks - Dave

Thanks GCL, it looks like those values are for the outer tie rod end / castle nut, which is helpful since thats part of the service too. Does your info list anything about an inner tie rod torque value? I believe its pictured above the control arm to the left of the boot. In fact that cylindrical shape off to the left of the boot is probably the inner end of the inner tie rod.

BTW, can you tell me where you access the diagrams and torque values?

Many thanks - Dave

This is the first part of that page. I have access to the Toyota GSIC - Global Service Information Center.

But as I'd replied to you in your other post, check your local library. They should have free online access (while you are in the library) to AllData or EBSCO's Auto Repair Reference Center databases. The information there is exactly the same as Toyota's OEM sevice manual. In fact, they are generally scanned copies Check it out and you'll be surprised.

If you want access from home, you can then subscribe to AllData.

GCL, thanks! I signed up for AllData and they had what I was looking for. Its not as comprehensive as the printed manuals I've used in the past, but AllData has the info I need to compete this job. Thanks again - Dave

No problem,

I know what you mean re: comprehensive.

Toyota factory service manuals aren't anywhere as detailed as the ones from GM (like the Cadillac I use to have). The Audi ones (for my A6) was even worse - like IKEA assembly instructions!
